SHAPING IDENTITIES THROUGH MULTILINGUALISM
In an attempt to understand how language shapes one's personal identity, I worked with three of my peers, Madeline Nagel
Andrew Schaengold and Ivy Liu to create an exhibit showcasing four interviews with multilingual students at Emory University. With each one of them coming from diverse multicultural backgrounds, they were able to offer us with insight into their various cultural and multilingual experiences. Through their stories we can begin to understand the complexities of creating a personal identity through language as we researched the question, "How is identity shaped by one's language, especially when one speaks a minority language or dialect?"
